Why Banning Adult Videos Isn't A Good Idea

Banning Adult Videos

Several countries around the world are trying to ban porn websites like hotclips24. Recently there has been an increase in such regulations being passed by governments of countries like India. There are countries that take banning these websites a lot more seriously. For instance, North Korea gives capital punishment for people who watch porn. However, there are a lot of reasons why governments of democratic countries like India shouldn’t ban adult videos. Let us talk about a few of these reasons in detail and understand how they impact our society.

1. No evidence regarding its impact on our society

The reason why porn is banned is that governments argue that societies face several challenges due to the presence of the adult industry. If such claims are being made, one requires solid and substantial evidence supporting the same. It is considered that adult videos impact teenage brains and lead to erratic behavior towards women. However, there is no evidence to support the claim of a relationship between violence on and off screen. So unless research supports these claims, the argument does not hold good.

2. Going against the very principles of democracy and free expression

The basic essence of a democratic country lies in its freedom to express and freedom to speech. However, by controlling what videos we watch as individuals lead to hampering our fundamental rights. Those who wish to watch such videos are being forced against it which isn’t the spirit of a democratic nation.

3. Generalizing the population

Governments are worried about the impact of adult videos on younger minds which means minors. To prohibit the entire population from watching such videos only for a certain section may not be appropriate. While cigarettes and alcohol take a huge toll on teenagers haven’t been banned for the entire population, banning of adult videos sounds a little unfair.

4. It is against the public interest

Laws and regulations should be made according to public interest and not against it. According to the public, banning adult videos is not correct. Thus, governments must take into consideration what the people of a country want and make decisions in court accordingly.

To conclude, banning porn or adult videos does not necessarily mean a reduction in the rape rate across the world or a sudden fall in domestic violence cases. Porn should be regulated as to what content may be allowed but not banned completely.
